Truckee River Update – New Year!

Truckee River – Flows 420 cfs below Boca confluence & 480 cfs in the Canyon towards Reno, but these will change with this storm rolling in. The temps have been variable depending where you are, but 39* near Truckee and getting cold with this new mega storm! The water clarity is a bit off color with a greenish tea tint.  Perfect!  Almost gin clear up above Glenshire parking area. The Truckee is fishing well right now. This past week has been cold, real cold! The river temperature dropped significantly after that last storm, but the fish are still eating. No need to get out bright and early in the morning. The fish seem to start eating around mid/late morning through dusk. SJ’s, BWO’s in olive and black, big stoneflies, and always small midges. Not much for dry fly fishing right now, but you never know when you will see the occasional riser. With another storm bringing in the New Year, we will see how the river changes…Stay tuned! A couple of recent photos from the last few trips!
