I got a call a few weeks ago to guide in Ak this summer…some would turn it down, but I saw this as a perfect opportunity to work and enjoy AK for a summer. So it’s official, I will be flying out of Oakland tomorrow headed for Sitka. I will be guiding for Baranof Wilderness Lodge, call us for availability if you would like to experience AK. The trout fishing has been amazing on the Truckee and LT. Flows are up, due to this rain we had this past week. My last few days of guiding were stellar. With the high flows, you need to add more weight to your rig than you would expect. Fish will be holding on the side and bottom of the river, because it tends to be slower moving water (think physics of a river). Rainbows are in full spawn mode, so please do not fish the their redds. They are using all of their energy to produce new babies to keep the river system healthy for generations to come.
